No active malware being picked up now, so looking good. The Eset log shows just infection ComboFix already removed to it's Qoobox quarantine, and then some that had been held harmless in System Restore. And a few Java files that may/may not have actually had a malicious use. How are things running at this time?

Sorry for the late response but I have been away.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing this and helping me. I have a couple of questions. 1. Would this malware have caused the deletion of my IP address? 2. Why is my PC still taking so long to enter windows after I type the password (it used to be 10 seconds and now is about 1 minute), and it then says "Loading personal settings" etc etc. 3. Are we 100% sure it is all gone? 4. Whats the best anti malware software to use for the future. THANK YOU AGAIN. |

Could you provide more details on what you mean by an IP address being deleted please? Not quite sure what you saw that was missing something, or where it showed that.
Better we double-check things for the slowish startup after the welcome screen, so we can have everything right there for you. If you would, run and post a new RSIT scan log please. The antivirus softwares shown here are some that are known to be good, free versions, and used by quite a few folks, but let's check what is there right now first. |

I will do the new RSIT scan tomorrow and post it.
The IP address issue was to do with the fact when my laptop could not log onto the LAN at work OR the Internet (remember we discussed this issue in earlier posts). The problem was that my computer had NO IP address and "ipconfig /renew" did not work, I had to get a command line from the MS website (and I am presuming that the malware removed the IP address). I was just wondering if you knew what it was or is there a bigger problem with my laptop. I will do the RSIT scan tomorrow and post it. Thanks. |

Your IP info is listed in the Registry in keys associated with your network adapter devices, so something may have removed or changed that info. We could check in that area, but if everything is working okay now there owuld be no reason to. Malware settings themselves would have shown in the logs, and none related to IP issues have shown so far.
The RSIT log looks good, except one unknown file there. Make sure you can View Hidden Files. Also uncheck "Hide Extensions for Known File Types" Right click My Computer, left click Explore, and use the plus + symbols to navigate to the following hilighted file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\asr_jqesd.exe Do a mouse rollover on that file, and see if Windows provides info on it's use, or what program it is associated with. You can also right click it, select Properties and see if there is any vendor info shown there. If you cannot identify it, then better we check it out. Just go here, press new topic, fill in the needed details and just give a link to your post back here (see the "Instructions for uploading files" there for help, if needed). Then press the browse button and then navigate to & select that file on your computer. You DO NOT need to be a member to upload, anybody can upload the files. You will not be able to see the file once uploaded. |

I think I performed the tasks in the above post correctly.
Let me know what you think. The last link on the other website was http://thespykiller.co.uk/index.php/...0.new.html#new |

I received the file, thanks. Encrypted code, and also possibly corrupted, but some scan engines do identify it as a type of malware. For now, just right click the file and rename it to asr_jqesd.bad. Leave it like that for a few days, and if nothing comes up saying it is missing that file you can then just safely delete it.
For the startup slowness, look through the previous RSIT log, especially the HijackThis parts showing "Processes", the "04" startups and then the "023" services. Can you identify any softwares you are now longer using, but are still starting up there? |
